Ralph Bernard

Ralph Bernard was the chief executive of commercial radio group GCap Media. He started his career in the newsroom of Sheffield's Radio Hallam, before moving to Hereward Radio in Peterborough then to Wiltshire Radio. He was managing director of Wiltshire Radio. From here, he helped develop the GWR radio group which later merged with Capital Radio to form the biggest commercial radio company in the UK. The group's portfolio includes Classic FM and London's Capital Radio.
Bernard was awarded the CBE for his services to broadcasting. He left GCap on 20th December 2007 to be replaced by Fru Hazlitt.
