[edit] Vandalism Help
Thanks for your help in the fight against vandals. I saw that you had found a couple on Hibernian F.C.. I don't know why people think it is funny to make lame edits, but there you go.
Anyway, if you do revert vandalism, could you please add a warning on the user's talk page? If you go to this page: Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace/Multi-level templates, you will see a lot of different templates to copy and use. If you add the appropriate warning to their talk page (working up one level from the last time they vandalised, if needs be), and they carry on vandalisng, administrators have the right to block these vandals.
Remember though, always assume good faith. They might be a newbie just doing a test edit.
If there are no recent vandal notices, or they are new, then you will need to add a header too: Just type ==December 2007== at the start of a new line, and copy the template below it, then sign it (by adding 4 tilde (~) signs after the template.
If you see that someone has been given a recent final warning, and they are currently vandalising, then you can report them at this page: Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. It is a nice feeling when you see a stupid vandal getting indefinitely blocked (grin).
Anyway, once again, welcome to Wikipedia! StephenBuxton (talk) 17:12, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, I have already added warnings to the ones who did the vandalism on Rui En and Hibernian F.C.. I also saw that you got a comment from Cluebot about vandalism. I thought that a bit odd, so I looked at the revision history. Not sure how you managed to do that change, but I have reverted the original vandalism that you tried to correct.
- Little tip for you: If you have loads of vandalism to do on one page, if you select the page history, and identify which was the last good version that you wish to restore, click on the time and date for that entry. Then select "edit page" at the top of the screen. Then just save it as it is. Just remember to put something in the edit summary to explain your changes. Make sure that you are reverting just vandalism though, as any other edits will be lost too. StephenBuxton (talk) 17:23, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Glad to be of help
Saw your post on my talk page - no worries, I'm happy to help. Also, I've had a bit more chance to look through what Cluebot did, and reported my findings on your false positive page User:ClueBot/FalsePositives/Reports/Rahaeli, so hopefully if it was a bug in Cluebot, someone should be able to fix it.
