The Radioactive Chicken Heads are a rock band from Orange County, California. Originally named Joe and the Chickenheads, the band first formed in 1994. After producing a few cassettes in the 90s, they appeared on a number of compilation CDs, including "Hey Brother 4," which was called the album that saved OC rock in 1998.[1] Their first full-length CD, "Keep on Cluckin'", was released in 2000.
The band's style of music has been called geek rock, punk rock, and puppet rock; the band performs wearing chicken heads or heads of other foods, including a carrot and a tomato. The band is close to puppet rock band Green Jellÿ.[2] In the first CD under the new name, "The Radioactive Chicken Heads: Growing Mold," released in 2005, the band had a more "mature" sound. [3]. In November 2006 the band made its national TV debut on The Tyra Banks Show.
