[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Dear Racerguy,

Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator.

One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with two hyphens followed by four tildes --~~~~. The software that runs Wikipedia will automatically convert this into a signature which contains your username and the date and time you posted the message, so other users don't get confused.

I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself on your userpage, you should start by adding {{User:PEAR/welcomed}} to your userpage.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Old Banyan Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Old Banyan Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] What is your connection to Banyan and VINES

I was a VINES engineer. Do you know Jim D'Arezzo or might you be him? I added more information to the Banyan VINES article. Good ole BANYAN - what a horribly WASTED, WASTED technology and also business opportunity of monumentally profound proportions! I find my jaw dropping whenever I think of it all - at least once per decade! SimonATL (talk) 04:31, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
