As a professional he worked in the Franklin Institute situated in Philadelphia, USA[2]. Rutherford and Owens worked together on the radiation of Thorium and found a new puzzle. One day Owens open the door of their laboratory harshly and air floe caused by that opening lessen the reaction of Thorium production.
