Rémy Vercoutre (born in Grande-Synthe on 26 June 1980), is a French football goalkeeper, currently second choice for the French champions, Olympique Lyonnais. His squad number is 30.
[edit] Career
Vercoutre previously played for Montpellier before moving to Lyon in 2002. In 2004, he joined the RC Strasbourg on loan, but only managed to play 8 games for them before returning to Lyon.
Due to Coupet's injury for the 2007 portion of the Ligue 1 season, Vercoutre became Lyon's first choice keeper and played in every game until Coupet's return. Vercoutre has now been relegated back to the second choice, however not after leaving the impression that not only is he an exceptional keeper capable of handling Champions League pressure, but he is ready and able to become Coupet's successor.
