QuakeForge is a project with the aim of enhancing all the major engine components of the game Quake by id Software whose sourcecode was released under the terms of the GPL in 1999.
Despite never having gained the level of popularity that some of the competing projects such as MQWCL, FuhQuake or ZQuake achieved, QuakeForge is notable for the broad range of game components which have been updated. As such, not only are standard replacement clients offered, but also replacement NetQuake and QuakeWorld servers, and (almost) uniquely, a QuakeWorld Master server.
