Q-Spoil

Q-Spoil is a technique used to produce high power short duration optical pulses. This is achieved by introducing an active or passive optical absorber which in the active mode may be controlled by switching a Kerr Cell, whereas a passive absorber is a dye which can rapidly become transparent when subjected initially with non-coherent light.
