Pytheas crater in Mare Imbrium on the Moon. Southward view; in the background is Copernicus crater visible (near the horizon). The mountains at the edge of Mare Imbrium are the Montes Carpatus.
Picture taken in December, 1972 by the Apollo 17 mission from an altitude of 160 km. The distance from the lower edge of the image to the center of Copernicus is about 400 km.
