Pyongsu Joint Venture Company

Pyongsu Joint Venture Company, Limited is a pharmaceutical company that is controlled by Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Company in North Korea. The corporate headquarters are in the Songyo District in Pyongyang. Created in June 2004, the company is a joint venture between the North Korean government and a Swiss drug company, Inter-Pacific Holding Corporation, and a mediator, North Development Corporation (NDC).

As of 2005 Pyongsu is engaged in manufacturing aspirin, ibuprofen and metamizol under its own brand names, Pyongsu Spirin, Pyongsu Profen and Pyongsu Metazol. It produces paracetamol, antibiotics such as doxycycline and norfloxacin, and other medicines. It also produces Korean traditional medicine.

On its website the company states that it intends to expand into exporting drugs out of North Korea. The company further notes that very strict international standards are met in its manufacturing rooms.
