Is it Pittu or Puttu??

[edit] ???

  • According to my Tamil and Sinhala dictionaries, it should be "pittu" (indological transcription "piṭṭu").
  • Why is it eaten only in Kerala and Sri Lanka when there is a link to "Tamil cuisine"? Is it only availabe in tropical (wet) regions? Or do only those Tamils who live in Sri Lanka eat it?
  • And which "highlands" are meant? Those in Kerala or Sri Lanka or both?
  • What are "Kerala plantains"?
  • Isn't the phrasing "favourite breakfast" somewhat un-encyclopedic? ;-)
  • There should be more info on Puttu itself and less describing the side dishes it goes with ... Krankman 01:45, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

When travelling through South India, I was unable to get Puttu anywhere in Tamil Nadu (except for one place), but had it everyday for 2 weeks for breakfast in Kerala. Ah, there's no better way to start the day than with a milk- and honey-soaked puttu. *drool* 212.183.23.1 21:43, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How come puttu a tamil cuisine..???

I lived in both Kerala and Tamilnadu... I never see a tamilian eating puttu in my entire life at TN, i can't even spot a single place (except where mallu foods are served) where puttu is served, but in kerala its the common breakfast...

So why it is put it under tamil cuisine... I dont think Puttu has any tamil origin... someone plz correct the article... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nubin wiki (talkcontribs) 09:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
