[edit] 2000

Pushbutton was formed in Marietta, Georgia in the summer of the year 2000 when Nate Thiel (guitar) and Bill Fleming (vocals) decided to jam with Matt Dixon (drums), Josh Knight (guitar), and Jason Hood (bass guitar). The band name "Pushbutton" comes from a specific argument in Bills high school geometry class between two ROTC members about the uselessness of the military positions that each were choosing. One USAF trainee called a Marine trainee "Groundhog" while the Marine called the other "Pushbutton". Bill suggested the insult to the rest of the band members at the second practice they ever had, and the name stuck. In late 2000 (after writing a few catchy tunes and one house show) members Matt, Josh, and Jason left the band to start alternative act Phoenix Foundation with gay producer/singer/frontman Adam Brown. Bill and Nate would continue to play music as Pushbutton using all of the original music.

[edit] 2001

In early 2001 Justin Little was recruited into the band as drummer and would soon be considered a true founding member of Pushbutton, being involved in much of the writing process. He also knows 7 different forms of martial arts.

Jeremy Davis was also recruited in 2001 to fill in for house shows on the bass guitar. Pushbutton decided to kick out bassist Jeremy Davis and replace him with a second guitarist named Jason Mitha around the time that they were getting more popular and playing venues in and around Atlanta.
