Talk:Purple Heart Lane
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Are you sure that Purple Heart Lane is the highway now known as N13?
I'm looking at Wikimapia, and there are two roads.
One is N13, but that bypasses Carentan completely, and wouldnt make sense if Cole and his men were guarding the right flank of the Airborne infantry attempting to secure the approach to Carentan, as that would place him West of N13.
However there is another road, named D913. Which actually leads directly into Carentan. And it goes with the map on the page for the Battle of Carentan.

If you go here:
You can see that it is in fact not N13, but D913.
The box titled Coles Charge was added by myself, and I did it by what that map shows. Considering, that Carentan has been built up since 1944, and has covered what used to be just fields.
You can see the extensive amounts of causeways that Cole would have had to cross, whereas on the N13 route, he would have only had to cross one, which is the Douvre.
