[edit] mainstream? i dont think so.

"PureVolume is promotional grounds for mostly fairly obscure, minor or up-and-coming artists, such as Irish band, Civilian, but also boasts a selection of signed mainstream bands as well, including Alkaline Trio, Atreyu, Jimmy Eat World, Relient K, Sum 41, Hot Water Music, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Underoath, Fall Out Boy, Daphne Loves Derby, Hawthorne Heights, Panic! At The Disco, Hellogoodbye, Equal, Audioslave, and Jack Johnson."

i dont know what your definition of mainstream is,but Underoath,Daphne loves derby, and hellogoodbye ARE NOT mainstream.the other bands are with the exception of those three.

PureVolume also hosts some well-known indie bands, such as Hellogoodbye, Vogue in the Movement, and Daphne Loves Derby.

[edit] Similar sites

  • The similar sites section isn't anything more than a spam farm. If the subjects aren't important enough to have their own articles, then they don't need external links from an unrelated article. Wickethewok 15:48, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. Similar sites? Come on... at least "related sites" would be, well, related. Unless they are sister sites or owned by the same group, it's just spam. Does the Bush II article list "Similar Presidents"? Danielsan1701 15:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Site Picture

The website photo is a bit outdated... Also, maybe someone can put the PureVolume logo in there.

[edit] Indie Bands?

The indie bands listed don't have indie as their genre on their individual pages (Hellogoodbye - power pop, Daphne Loves Derby - soft rock)?

Indie is a genre like hot is a flavor. Danielsan1701 15:02, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] That's because...

Indie is not a genre it just means the band is unsigned (it's short for "independant.")

[edit] "Fastest growing"

There is no evidence to support the statement that this site is the "fastest growing music community," so marked.

[edit] Christian?

Pure Volume hosts and spotlights a disproportionate number of Christian artists and seems to have a following among fans of Contemporary Christian Music, although it does not seem to have any unusual content restrictions. Does anyone know to what extent it is intended as a Christian site? The point of my question is not to segregate Christian content, but if the people behind it (and who is Unborn Media?) created it with an eye toward tapping the Christian market, that would go a long way toward explaining its reason for being and success. Either way, it seems indicative of a broader cultural trend toward blurring the lines between CCM and "secular" music that may be worth noting. Radosh 20:54, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

It's Because the bands that are featured have to pay to be there. Most of those bands are on Tooth and Nail records who are probably paying the money for the promotion of their artists. I don't think it's anymore than the fact that T&N use Purevolume. Kapy53 —Preceding comment was added at 16:09, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Little encyclopaedic information

This article should contain information about the history of PureVolume and the buisiness behind it - instead it's just another stupid fandom article with little encyclopaedic information. Is Wikipedia a bulletin board where anyone can describe things without having heard about NPOV and encyclopaedia? -- Nichtich 17:46, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. I came here to find out which corporation/media conglomerate owns PureVolume, but instead I get what amounts to an advertisement for the site. Danielsan1701 14:59, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Maybe it is because purevolume is not owned by any conglomerate of any kind... 70.81.109.62 03:48, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Purevolume screenshot.jpg

Image:Purevolume screenshot.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:02, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Virb as separate article

I think Virb.com as a social networking site (not as the Inc.) should have an article. Thoughts on this? Kevinebaugh (talk) 00:59, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
