Talk:Punk blues
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello all. It is my understanding that last year this page was rife with POV, unsourced info, opinion, and such. These issues have been resolved. I am a member of WikiProject Punk Music, and consider myself a major fan of the punk blues style. I have therefore contributed heavily to its citations, information, key performers, and verifiable research. I want to provide an understanding for the legitimacy of this unique subgenre, and have done much to move this article towards Wikipedia standards and quality. When I came to it awhile ago, it was very scant on citations, only listed a few bands and was more opinion than fact. I also intend to refine even further. Thanks. Note: This section archives the article when it was severely lacking in sources, and failed to meet Wikipedia standards and quality.
See also Swamp rock.
this page doesn't really offer a clear description besides 'Combines this and that' and it also doesn't mention any bands besides the White Stripes. It says it combines swamp rock with blues, however the description given for swamp rock is scant and only mentions 2 bands. If somebody could update this page with some actual example bands, and a clear description that isn't totally overlapped by the other American folk music-inspired subgenres of punk, that would be great, right now I can't really picture what this sounds like and can't seek examples. Is it up tempo Elvis with screamed lyrics? Rougher-sounding Lynyrd Skynyrd with lyrics about the overcommercialisation of NASCAR? what?
- Hi...if there are no references for this subgenre, then it would be POV (point of view) original research, which is not suitable for Wikipedia. Perhaps some references, citations, media quotes etc. can be found?NatMor 20:40, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suggested deletion
This article seems like original research and neologism-coining. Three of the citation links don't work and the other three are insubstantial. If no clear, citable information shows up soon, this page should be tagged for deletion. WesleyDodds 07:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi WesleyDodds, another user has complained that the Allmusic.com links don't work. Arguably, when you cite a reference work, the links are a courtesy, since you can still look up the Punk Blues article on the allmusic.com website. The article is based on the allmusic.com articles, with the other sources as additional ancillary materialNazamo 21:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
