THE USE OF HYPNO-IMAGERY CONDITIONINNG IN THE TREATMENT OF INHIBITED MALE ORGASM by Dr. James C Ronning - Homosexual imagery was combined with heterosexual imagery while the patient was hypnotized to aid in the sexual arousal of a male suffering inhibited orgasm. The client responded to a posthypnotic suggestion to experience vividly arousing images while having intercourse with his wife. He obtained an erection with a female for first time and ejaculated on his first home trial. A follow-up three months later indicated that the client was having regular sexual relations with his wife and depending less and less on his need for homosexual visualizations. His wife also had been impregnated which was the subject's primary reason for seeking professional help. This case clearly illustrates the effectivness of HYPNO-IMAGERY CONDITIONING in treating inhibited male orgasm. The subject's strong desire to have a child was certainly a critical factor in his success. The risk of pushing the client into homosexual relationships was clear, but his desire to change his apparent latent homosexual orientation (ego-dystonic homosexuality DSM IV) was a strong defense against this. In the future, it may prove to be productive for therapists to check for the possible homosexual ramifications of both male and female inhibited orgasm patients. It should also be pointed out that Dr. Ronning was not attempting to change the patient's possible homosexual orientation. REFERENCES: Kroger, William S. and Fezler, William D.
