There are currently 13 accepted species of Psilophtyon. P. dawsonii, P. forbesii, P. coniculum, P. charientos, P. crenulatum, P. microspinosum, P. kraeuselii, P. Szaferi, P. dapsile, P. genseliae, P. parvulum, P. primitivum and P. princeps. P. princeps in the holotype for the genus, although it is the only Psilophyton w/ peg-like enations. The distribution of Psilophyton is world wide(US, Canada, Belgium, Czech Rep., Poland, China) but they are mostly found in Northern Maine (Trout Valley, Baxter park), Gaspe peninsulae and ontario. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.26.83.48 (talk) 05:03, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

What is your source? Incidentally, the distribution is not global; all known sites are in the Northern Hemisphere, which gives Psilophyton a Laurasian distribution. It has yet to be found in Gondwana. --EncycloPetey 05:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
