[edit] Rewrite and merges

I just merged this article with much of the material from "Coprinus", as well as the articles "Coprinopsis" and "Coprinopsis cinareus". This was done to reflect current taxonomic understanding of the genera Coprinus (which is now restricted to Coprinus comatus and its close relatives), Coprinellus, Coprinopsis, and Parasola. I'm basing this merge on established scientific consensus and will post the proper references soon. Several of these genera and species may very well justify having their own articles, however, I merged everything until there is enough material on these species or genera to justify their own breakout articles. I ask that my rewrites and merges not be blindly reverted.

Also, in my opinion, the listing of Coprinellus disseminatus and Coprinopsis picacea as notable species is questionable – I suspect these were merely listed so that there would be an excuse to post images of them. Peter G Werner 18:06, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
