[edit] Summary

This is a picture of the three Sony control pads offered for the Playstation 1. The earliest is at the bottom, the original PS1 D-pad (US version). The markings on the back are "CONTROLLER" and the model number is SCPH-1080. In the upper right is the second controller chronologically, the Dual Analog Controller (US version). Note the dished joysticks and much longer handles. The markings on the back are "ANALOG CONTROLLER" and the model number is SCPH-1180. In the upper left is a final controller offered, the DualShock(tm) controller (US black version). Note the mushroom-shaped joysticks, a return to the shorter handles. Although this controller is black, it is not a DualShock 2. The markings on the back are "ANALOG CONTROLLER" and the model number is SPCH-1200.
