[edit] Summary

This a picture of all 3 Sony control pads offered for the Playstation 1. The earliest is at the top, the original PS1 D-pad (US version). The markings on the back are "CONTROLLER" and the model number is SCPH-1080. In center is the second controller chronologically, the Dual Analog Controller (US version). Note the larger L2 and R2 buttons with ridges on top and the slightly wider spacing of the left and right halves of the controller. The markings on the back are "ANALOG CONTROLLER" and the model number is SCPH-1180. At the buttom is the final controller offered, the DualShock(tm) controller (US black version). Note the L2 and R2 buttons are even larger again, extending further toward the top of the controller, although the ridge at the top has been removed. Although this controller is black, it is not a DualShock 2. The markings on the back are "ANALOG CONTROLLER" and the model number is SPCH-1200.
