User:Protom23 is Tom Schaefer of Dayton, Ohio USA who is a retired high school teacher developing an 'encore career' as a writer.

A poet for some years, Schaefer is currently working on two prose books re: The Hog Island Audubon Center in Maine. The first, tentatively entitled 'Mother Church: The Buchheister era on Hog Island,' will focus on the early years of the Audubon Nature Camp directed by Carl W. Buchhester, who would go on to be president of the National Audubon Society from 1959-67. Target completion date: summer 2008.

The second work, tentatively entitled 'Camp Mavooshen: Mabel Loomis Todd's summer place on Hog Island,' will focus on the Todd Bingham family's lifetime accomplishments and eventual experiences on Hog Island. Target completion date: summer 2010.
