Talk:Protect America

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Protect America is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They didnt follow through with most of what they told me on the phone, didnt honor anything their sales people told me, then over-charged me and then when I was finally able to cancel my contract, didnt give me the full refund they told me I'd be getting. They drag out your complaints and lure you along until you are outside the 7 day cancellation period. They pass you back and forth from one person to another in hopes that you'll give up. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Check out their rating with the Better Business Bureau! Its listed as unsatisfactory due to all the complaints. At the time of my complaint they had over 900 in the past 36 months...... 900!!!! Over 300 of those in the past 12 months. Do not do business with this company, they are total scam artists. Someone needs to file a class action lawsuit against this company! Brinks has a much better rating with the BBB. Give them your money instead.

I am going through something similar I have been with them for 2 years and finally gave up on things. I quit setting the alarm because it would just go off at random in the middle of the night or when I was out. Their solution was just to simply send new sensors. They did this several times.

Here is what is really shady though. They proudly offer "electronic signature" for your convenience and make it easy to take your money but make it as hard as possible to cancel. Yes it does say you have to give 90 days written notice in advance to cancel in their contract but let's be reasonable here. Who is going to go back and read that 2 years later? What they pulled on me is automatically renewing me for another year because I didn't follow their procedures. I have been battling this through the BBB now and their complaint # has risen to over 1000. They swear they are perfectly ethical and are very open with their terms, however the 2 times I called and asked about the cancellation date, neither representative offered this information to me. Likewise, they send no courtesy notices to remind you you are being renewed automatically. The reason is they don't want you to know about this and bank on the fact you won't go back over the terms 3 months prior to wanting to cancel so they snare you into another year of service.
