From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Product Descriptions - Can I put in a product description. It would be in the NPOV For instance, the 3500 series of ProCurve switches is 10/100/1000 in either 24/48 port with 4 x Dual Personality ports. It has an optional 10GbE Module. ??? I would link this to the correct articles on 10/100/1000, 10GbE, etc..
It states in Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not that, "Advertising. Articles about companies and products are acceptable if they are written in an objective and unbiased style. Furthermore, all article topics must be third-party verifiable, so articles about very small "garage" or local companies are not likely to be acceptable. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they can serve to identify major corporations associated with a topic (see finishing school for an example). Please note Wikipedia does not endorse any businesses and it does not set up affiliate programs. See also WP:CORP for guidelines on corporate notability."
WP:CORP states, "Criteria for products and services - A product or service is notable if it meets any of the following criteria: 1. The product or service has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself.
- This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, television documentaries, and published reports by consumer watchdog organizations7 except for the following:
o Media re-prints of press releases, other publications where the company or corporation talks about its products or services, and advertising for the product or service. Newspaper stories that do not credit a reporter or a news service and simply present company news in an uncritical or positive way may be treated as press releases unless there is evidence to the contrary. 1 o Works carrying merely trivial coverage, such as simple price listings in product catalogues. 2. The product or service is so well-known that its trademark has suffered from genericization."
I will not be placing in price lists or product codes, more of what each different product is , and what its main parts of are. The product itself would have a link to the international ProCurve site [www.hp.com/rnd] FOR THE RECORD, I do represent ProCurve in my day to day job in the UK. I saw this page, and wanted to make it readable, instead of a bunch of numbers. ---Jezarnold 12:42, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
OK I Posted this 5 days ago, and no-one has responded. I will now add some info, especially for ProCurves new products released today. Jezarnold 14:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC) 15:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
The first paragraph sounds like an ad.
Granted. The first paragraph DID sound like an Advert. Now changed. Jezarnold 16:24, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
This is a page about ProCurve Networking NOT an advert I think moving products and training to NEW pages make sense. However, this page should NOT be an ad of what services are available to the reseller channel. It should be a page on ProCurve - including the history, controversies, small product and software list, and a See Also. It should mention its differences to other Networking Vendors, without sounding like a marketing page.
See pages on other Networking vendors such as D-Link, Cisco, 3com, Netgear & Nortel.
I will wait a few weeks for comments, and amend. Its need more information available in the public domain, about where ProCurve came from. I will also delete references to Reseller services. If a reseller wants help from ProCurve, they will contact them. Not check out a wiki page. --Jezarnold (talk) 13:14, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
IP address 15.203.169.123 is a Hewlett Packard address.. I am going to delete the Reseller section as its completely useless to anyone who is interested in knowing about ProCurve Networking. --Jezarnold (talk) 19:16, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
