Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy is a magnet high school in Forest Park, Illinois. It is the third and newest school in the Proviso Township High Schools District 209. It is the most diverse and technologically advanced school in the district. It serves students in many towns in western Cook County including Forest Park, Broadview, Maywood, Melrose Park, Hillside, Bellwood, and Westchester. PMSA opened its doors to 126 freshmen in 2005. The principal is Mr. Edward Moyer Jr., and the assistant principal is Dr. Clotilde Frankiewicz. The academy accepts students through a rigorous admissions program including standardized tests, grades, recommendations, and an essay. PMSA's curriculum is informed by Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy's. It focuses on Science, Math, Technology, Arts, and Foreign Languages. PMSA teaches ILASS (Integrated Language Arts And Social Studies) that uses a thematic integrated approach to teaching language arts and social studies. They also teach Physics first, which is irregular for freshmen students to take since it's a junior class. This method has been proven to help students learn Chemistry and Biology easier. PMSA electives will increase in number and diversity over time. The school will continue to add more class as time goes on. PMSA is a laptop school meaning that there are many computers and laptops in reach for students. The school mascot is the Python. So far there are no sports at the Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy, so students play sports at either Proviso East or West. PMSA has many extra curicular activities including Student Council, Drama Club, Dance Club, Anime Club, Newspaper Club, Robotics Club, Key Club, Peer Mediation, Book Club,Chorus, Travel Club, Orchestra, Spoken Word, and the Song Writing and Producing Club
