"Protection" is a song by American singer Donna Summer from her self-titled 1982 album which was produced by Quincy Jones. It was written by legendary rock star Bruce Springsteen and was almost recorded as a duet between himself and Summer. However she ended up doing both lead vocal parts herself. The song was released as a single in Belgium and Japan, but did not gain an international release. Despite not having been released as a single in the U.S. "Protection" gave Summer a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
