Progress Island U.S.A.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Progress Island U.S.A. is a 1973 short subject film made by the Economic Development Administration of Puerto Rico to promote the burgeoning U.S. Commonwealth.

The film, produced by Fucci/Stone Productions, Inc in 1973, describes the Puerto Rico of the late 60's and early 70's. It shows some of what the island had to offer at that time. The commercial short, which is a mere 13 minutes - explains that Puerto Rico is "American in every respect" except for its "360 days of sunshine." The short is best known from the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode 0621, "The Beast of Yucca Flats".
