The Professional Association of Teachers (PAT) is an independent UK Trade Union, founded in 1970 by two teachers who gathered together a group of like-minded professional teachers who were prepared to commit themselves to the principle of not striking.[1] The union represents teachers, lecturers and other education workers in all areas of British education. The charity PAT (Education and Learning) was launched by PAT in 1999.
