Pro-Lab is a leading provider of environmental laboratory testing services and products formed in 1998 by the Jamie McDonnell. It is headquartered in Weston, Florida and employs approximately 200 people between its two North American branches. Jamie McDonnell is the current Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer.
The main product of Pro-Lab are their mold-testing capsules, most notably the Z5 Sampling Casette, a spore trap impactor that uses slit impaction as the collection mechanism[1]; the Z5 is attached to a vacuum, while other models are placed overnight near an air vent or collect water. The different testing apparatuses are then sealed and sent in to the Pro-Lab facilities in either Weston, Florida or Ontario, Canada for analysis. These home-testing kits are primarily used by home inspectors to get preliminary information on whether a mold problem may exist and further investigation is warranted.
Pro-Lab is recognized by a number of independent and governmental agencies[2], notably NACHI, NAHI, and ASHI. NAHI writes that Pro-Lab is "the World's leading manufacturer of home hazard testing kits and the World's largest full service analytical laboratory, serving the home inspection industry."[3]
