"Prison Bound" is a song from the 1988 Social Distortion album with the same title. It can also be heard live on the 1998 album Live at the Roxy. Although this song was not a hit song on the charts, it found airplay on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ.
Its lyrics are about how the singer had committed a crime and was now "going to a place where the tough guys go." He goes on to tell how hard prison is, and that it's a "place where a man don't show his feelings, a place where a man don't cry." He warns of how he will return someday. The second stanza continues on how cold and painful it is, making a reference to Johnny Cash's song "Walk the Line." He laments how he continually fails to learn and to fix his life.
The chorus reads:
"Oh, I'm prisonbound
I did a crime one too many times
It's on the outskirts of town
By the railroad tracks
Where the country moon shines.
Oh, I'm prisonbound
Tell my girl I'll be back one day.
Oh, I'm prisonbound
I may never know any other way."
