Jackson was a graduate of Georgia State College. [1]

In 1971, Jackson became the second alumnus to become president of Savannah State (Cyrus G. Wiley, the third president, was the first). [1]
His administration was responsible for the establishment of the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Savannah State and the establishment of WHCJ, the university’s FM radio station. [1] Jackson also oversaw institutionalization of the Title III program, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools re-accreditation and the construction of new buildings. [1]
After serving as president Jackson returned to teach Mathematics at Savannah State until his retirement.
