This forty acre island resort is home to Princess Cruise Line and is a port-of-call on many of its Caribbean cruises.
Situated approximately 30 miles from Nassau, Princess Cays' limestone base is comprised of many generations of coral. Cruise ships drop anchor about two miles offshore of the harbor to protect the coral reef, and all passengers are ferried via the cruise ship's tenders to the Princess Cays harbor.
The ocean water at Princess Cays is shallow for about 100 feet. Its white sands are soft and feel wonderful while the warm wind blows on your face.
You will find many activities on this part of the Eleuthera Island; swimming, kayaking, banana boating, paddle boating, skiing, snorkeling, parasailing, sailboating, waverunning, and simply floating on the water. There are also volleyball and basketball courts for more active people. If you want to just relax and enjoy the beauty of the island, you will find shaded hammocks in Palm Grove or beach chairs alongside the ocean. The beach chairs are free to use. You may also rent a cabana for the day.
Upon your arrival at Princess Cays, a calypso band livens up the island with reggae and calypso music. Before touring the resort, endulge yourself in fresh tropical fruit!
English is the spoken language and US currency is used or you may charge everything to your shipboard account.
You will have several choices of food options. A buffet bar-b-q at the Barbecue Pavilioni offers delicious barbecue and sides. Other choices are the Banana Beach Bar and Sea Breeze Grill.
At noon you will want to watch the "Junkanoo" procession where you will see colorful costumed Bahamians dancing to the steel drum beat.
Climate: The Bahamian sun is hot! The island offers a tropical climate, which has year 'round good weather. The Winter temperatures reach about 75 degrees in the day. Summer temperatures reach about 80-85°F (27-29°C) degrees during the day.
