[edit] Cerritos map

I uploaded a map at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Cerritos_in_LA_County_map.png But I haven't used one those tables in a long time. Mackerm 20:52, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] California WikiProjects

As a California Wikipedian, you may be interested in the California WikiProject (and/or one of its 'daughter' Wikiprojects on Southern California, Santa Barbara County, California State Highways and California County Routes). Please take a look at the WikiProject to see if there is anything that interests you. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact me. If enough people express an interest, it would also be very easy to create additional daughter WikiProjects, such as a Northern California WikiProject or a California Politics WikiProject.

It has also more than seven months since the 2nd Los Angeles area Wikipedia meetup ([ 26 September]] 2005), so it is time for another one. There have also been California meetups in San Diego (18 October 2005) and a very small one in Santa Barbara (8 April 2006. It's also about time that the Bay Area gets its first Meetup if anyone is willing to organize it. BlankVerse 06:08, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cerritos

Hey AManSac! Thanxs for the message. It didn't take that long to reference the Cerritos page. I'll get on labeling the notes. Have fun editing! =) Jumping cheese Contact 07:42, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

re: user:Publicdefender99: As long as they only delete that section once every couple of days, and every other editor of the page quickly restores the information, then it's probably best just for us to remain vigilant until after the election.
re: user:Banana Republic: I've deleted the same section because I don't think that it belongs. As a newly registered user, they may be one of the anon IPs that have restored that section. On the other hand, their other edits so far have looked reasonable. I would say the next step would be approach them on their talk page and suggest that they join the discussion on that section at Talk:Cerritos, California#City Image. BlankVerse 06:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
You might want to take a look at some of the articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities#Wikipedia featured articles. There are already two California cities that have achived FA status, San Francisco, California and San Jose, California. It would be nice to see a city from Southern California also achive FA status. BlankVerse 07:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
As I suggested at talk:Cerritos, California#City Image, there are a couple of things that are salvagable from that section, but it needs to be drastically pared down and renamed. Doing that, instead of a strait deletion is probably the best way to go. BlankVerse 08:06, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cerritos Library

Sorry...the only pictures of the Cerritos Library I have also have people blocking the view. I usually surf the Internet and dig up some pic, then add some valid license to it. =D Jumping cheese Contact 06:59, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cerritos Millennium Library

WOW! Great job in creating the perfect page in only one edit! Here's a well deserved barnstar:

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I hereby award AManSac for his or her tireless work in creating the extensive and detailed Cerritos Millennium Library page in only one edit! ^_^ Jumping cheese Contact 22:49, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Keep up the good work! Jumping cheese Contact 22:49, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanxs for the message. I hate to see good work go unnoticed, so I make sure to award barnstars to deserving Wikipedians. I hope to see more of your work on the Cerritos pages. =D Jumping cheese Contact 02:25, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanxs!

Thank you for the words of motivation! I rarely get those now...but the focus should be on you. You've done more to the Cerritos pages then I have even begun to do. Keep at it! =) Jumping cheese Contact 02:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Cerritos Air Disaster.jpg

Hey AManSac! Should the pic of the air disaster be placed in the main Cerritos page? I believe that it's more than a significant tragedy in Cerritos and deserves a pic on the the page. I'll move the other pics around so that there will be room for the air disaster pic if you decide to add it.
Oh...by the way, the copyright license for the image is no longer valid, so please add the source or another license (like the valid ones on all the rest the pics you uploaded). Anyways, have fun editing! =D Jumping cheese Contact 07:39, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

That was a quick reply. Thanxs for adding the valid license (I learned the hard way when half of the pics I uploaded got deleted). I see it can fit at the end of history, if the fountain pic is moved down. I'll give it a try. =) Jumping cheese Contact 07:49, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

I see you're ading Category:Cities in California to many cities. Howevre it isn't necessary to add it to articles that are already in Category:Cities in Los Angeles County. Needless to say, every city in L.A. County is in California. Per Wikipedia:categorization, articles shoulnd't be in both a parent and child category. But thanks for the effort to improve Wikipedia! Cheers, -Will Beback 20:55, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

PS Good work with Category:Cerritos, California, it was overdue. -Will Beback 21:02, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
I've reverted the improper categorizations. No offense, they just didn't follow the method we use for categorization. -Will Beback 21:08, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Placing both a city article and a city category in the same county category isn't ideal, but it is commonly done. -Will Beback 21:45, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey!

You changed your user name?!? I got kind of confused, but I figured it out after the comment by the admin. Nice new user name...but why the change? =D Jumping cheese Cont@ct 08:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about the late reply...I kind of forgot. ;)
Anyways, I never noticed that your original user name was obscene, until you pointed it out. I'm happy to hear that you're considering becoming an admin in the future. That's a huge responsibility, but I believe you can handle it. Becoming an admin is a thankless and grueling job, so make sure that you're willing to take anything before you apply! =) Jumping cheese Cont@ct 05:48, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Lakewood Center.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Lakewood Center.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 20:09, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion debate on ZIP codes

An {{afd}} tag has been placed on List of 56 ZIP codes and many other pages, requesting that they be deleted from Wikipedia. All Wikipedians can join the debate at Articles for deletion, where articles asserted to be inappropriate to Wikipedia are discussed. You are encouraged to submit your opinion, and remember that Articles for Deletion debates are not a vote. Please do not remove the deletion tag yourself, but don't feel inhibited from editing the article, particularly if doing so makes it clear that it is a useful contribution to an encyclopaedia. On behalf of Snowolf, my owner, Snowbot 16:18, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey...

Can you do me a huge favor?!? Image:Cerritos Library.jpg is probably gonna be deleted soon, since I definitely can't claim that a free replacement cannot be taken. If you live next to the library and it isn't too much of a hassle, can you please take a snapshot of the library? The Cerritos Millennium Library page will really suck without a pic at the top. If you don't have the time, I understand. But I'll really appreciate if you do decide to take a free pic. =) Jumping cheese Cont@ct 19:36, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pat_Nixon_Senior_Center.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Pat_Nixon_Senior_Center.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 11:07, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Los Cerritos Center Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Los Cerritos Center Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:07, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cerritos Towne Center Map.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cerritos Towne Center Map.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it may be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Cerritos Millennium Library Main Street.jpg. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Auto_Square_Sign_2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Auto_Square_Sign_2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:50, 22 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kelly hi! 15:50, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Auto Square Sign.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Auto Square Sign.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --10:30, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
