[edit] More data

This page seriously needs more data, including:

  • The mechanism on which prelink works, including executable headers and information stored
  • Detriments of prelink, such as not working with address space layout randomization

Your first point saddens me; I'd thought I'd done a fairly good job explaining just that. :( --maru (talk) contribs 18:26, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

IMHO this article should be merged with prebinding. In fact, instead of talking only about the Red Hat tool, I would rename this article to "prelinking", and then first discuss the generic technique, and later the tools used in different OS: prelink, Mac OS X, Irix Quickstart, Solaris crle... —surueña 14:12, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Could be merged, but seemed to fit my needs just fine for now. However, if no further data is added to both Prelink and Prebinding within the next six or more months, then might as well merge. For now, just seems more work to merge then the benefits as both prelink & prebinding are currently cross linked for others to see Mac uses something else. <shrugs> Rogerx (talk) 19:28, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Linux

Other OSes use the ELF as well, so i fail to understand why ELF would be a reason for prelink to be in any way Linux-related. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.74.86.240 (talk) 01:38, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
