The office of President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is a head of state position over the government of the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), an exile government based in the refugee camps of Tindouf, Algeria. From the 1976 declaration of independence to October 16, 1982 SADR's Head of State was known as the Chairman of the Revolutionary Council. The powers of the presidency are extensive, and while they have been subject to modification in various constitutional amendments, the last occurring in 1995, the post of the president has been held by Mohamed Abdelaziz since 1976.
