Preincarnation is the concept found in certain science fiction or fantasy works that a character is reborn backwards through time, being the opposite of reincarnation.
Preincarnation features in the unfinished Tolkien story The Lost Road, is found in the anime Millennium Actress where the interviewer is present in the main character's memories, and is hinted at in the ending to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining as well as the science fiction series Quantum Leap
