Professor Dr. Pranab Kr Bhattacharya is a notable Histopathologist of Kolkata and also theoritical physicist.

Professor Dr Pranab Kr Bhattacharya is a notable teacher in Pathology of Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research under Calcutta University previously and now under Health university of West Bengal, India. Born in 11.03.1956, S/o. Sri Bholanath Bhattacharyya , B.Com (Cal), FCA, SAS, and late Mrs. Bani Bhattacharya of residence 7/ 51, Purbapalli, P.O. Sodepur, Dist.24-Parganas(North), West Bengal, Passed H.S. Examination from Agarpara Netaji Shikshayatan in 1rst Division (1973)with star marks, A Graduate (M.B.B.S.) of Calcutta University/from Calcutta Medical College, Kolkata - 73, in 1981 (Jan), and Doctor of Medicine (in pathology) from B. C. Roy P.G. Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of University of Calcutta in 1989, joined in West Bengal Health Services in 1983 (Oct), served as G. D. M.O at P.H.C. & Sub-divisional hospital of rural West Bengal, as Clinical Pathologist in SSKM Hospital and BIN, Kolkata, joined Medical Education Service, Dept. Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal in 1991 (March) and served as Medical Teacher in discipline pathology at different categories of academic ranks (Basic teacher, Lecturer, Asst. Professor, Reader , Associate Professor,) at different undergraduate Medical Colleges, i.e. National Medical College, Kolkata (basic teacher), R. G. Konar symposium of Medical college Ex student's Association (MCESA), IAPM and gave plenary Lecture at prestigious Bose Institute of Kolkata on "A new DNA based Chimera Malaria Vaccine Design" in 1999 sponsored by DST and WHO,. and in the dept. of science & Technology TIFAC & IPGME&R as “Intellectual Property Right doctor's Domain – on Copy Right” at IPGME&R on march 2005 symposium speaker on peripheral arterial diseases of Medical College Ex Students Association[MCESA] kolkata 2006. He chaired on Histopathology section in State conference of Indian Association of pathologists & Microbiologists,West Bengal chapter(2005&2007). He became guest Speaker in National Conference on Haematooncology held at Taz Bengal, West Bengal(2007) and Chaired a season there.

He served as "Reviewer" and "Referee" Board of Member of "The Lancet" (1999) and "Applied Health Economics and Health Policy" of OMJ, New Zealand (2001); BMJ(2003-07). He was Asst. His name was included in American Biographical Institute (ABI) INC, USA, as Research Advisory Board Member (1999), in the register of Elsevier Sciences, Netherlands USA and also in American Registry of Pathology of Armed forces institute of pathology, Washington DC (2002). He served as President of IMA, South Howrah Branch of West Bengal (158) (1994-1998) and was also elected as state council member of IMA, West Bengal Chapter (2000-2001). He was organizing committee member of National Conference and scientific committee member of National CME of Ind. Academy of Cyto-pathologists, R.N. Ghosh Memorial CME of lAPM and that of 58th IMA state (W.B.) chapter Conference. He was organizing secretary of foundation day and Reunion of Cal. School of Tropical Medicine. He delivered six (6) invited seminars by Director of Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine which has been accreted in Bull Cal School of Tropical Medicine during period 1993-1999. He served as in Charge of DCP course (1993-1997) and selected several times supervisor head examiner of DCP and Examiner of DLT course of Faculty of Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and also D TM & H of Calcutta University. He was member of Library Committee of CSTM, Kolkata. He is now Additional professor in Dept. Of Pathology, in-Charge of Blood Bank of SSKM / IPGME & R, and ex incharge of Malaria Screening committee Of IPGME&R Kolkata, in charge of setting up and development of human Cytogenetics and immuno-fluorescent laboratory / unit in the Dept. of Pathology IPGME & R, Kolkata.

He is also in-Charge of academic programme of MD Pathology Classes & seminars Journal club of Kolkata University/ State health university of W.B in IPGME & R, Kolkata. He served as Undergraduate External examiner of Dibrugarh (Assam) University, WestBengal State Health University Of Medical Sciences at Bankura and MD thesis adjudicator of Pathology of Calcutta university, West Bengal State Health University of MedicalSciences Several Thesis guide for MD pathology of Calcutta university/ WEst BengalState health university of Medical Sciences since 2004.

I find one article in Wikipedia about my class mate pranab .Professor pranb kumar Bhattacharya grew up from a very poor socio economic family with much struggle in his life. He was a very good student in his school time. He always do much for poors in providing medical services for  the lower socioeconomic class people of sodepur residents when they seek for.I am also indebted for his services for my only children's diagnosis & hospitalisation & treatment
