Powershifting (a.k.a. full throttle shift) is a method of shifting used with manual transmissions to reduce the time where the driving wheels are not powered.
Unlike a normal gearchange in a manual transmission, a powershift does not let off the gas. Instead, the gear lever is slammed from gear to gear with the clutch depressed as quickly as possible. Although this is not an ideal shifting technique, it does help the car to accelerate faster
