Power 108 FM (formerly DZWI FM 107.9 MHz Metro Manila and Cavite) was an FM radio station that operated from 2001 to 2004. It was a collaborative effort of Conamor Broadcasting Systems and 713 Productions, with studios and transmitter located at Tagaytay City. The flamboyant logo of Power 108 FM represents its genuine love of hip hop.

[edit] History

It was the first and only radio station in the Philippines played nothing but mainstream and underground hip hop and R&B 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Power 108 FM executives and DJs (Power Jocks) were very passionate about playing music and sharing the culture which won by many hip hop enthusiasts around the Metropolis. Most notable personalities worked at the station were rapper Francis Magalona, using his on-air moniker as The Mouth and former MTV Philippines VJ and supermodel Sarah Meier. This former Hip Hop and R&B FM station is better known as Project: Hip Hop created by three men namely DJ's Caine, Satoshi and Quaizy.

[edit] The end of Power 108 FM

Power 108 FM signed off in the third quarter of 2004, which the main reason of its disappearance still remains a mystery to many of their loyal listeners. In 2005 the crew together with some staff moved the project to BLAZIN' 105.9 in Makati City. It may be due to its license, which indicated it was supposed to operate in the Tagaytay area only but it reached even the northernmost parts of Metro Manila, thus giving it the impression that it was a pirate station.

2 years later, 107.9 Underground Radio (now 107.9 U Radio) started broadcasting.
