Template talk:Pound

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shouldn't this be documented in [Wikipedia:Template messages/General] in the "Title-related messages" subsection? Guy Harris 03:19, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Title?

This is a far from obvious name for those of us in the UK, where "pound" never, ever refers to the "sharp" symbol, but always either the currency (£) or the weight (lb). 86.132.137.36 04:23, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Heh, I came to the talk page to see if this was discussed. I think it should probably be "hash" or "number sign". Oh, looks like the category already uses "number sign". But apparently "number sign" is mostly a North-American name for it too? --Galaxiaad 19:51, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I'd be in favour of "number sign", too. —Nightstallion (?) 10:02, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category

I'm removing the category from this template. There is no compelling reason to include non-content, non-maintenance categories in articles; in the unlikely event that something needs to be done to these articles, the template's list of inclusions can be used. See also Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion/Log/2006 August 4#Category:Pages_containing_IPA, where a similar template was deleted, and Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion/Log/2006 August 20#Category:Article_titles_with_lowercase_initial_letters for a currently ongoing discussion of a similar template.
