[edit] Summary

Potential map of a broken up china and unified Korea. Uyghuristan and Tibet are shown in respective flags. China and Taiwan are shown with flags of current democracy and independence movements. Uyghuristan is shown only as the contiguous Uyghuri dominated part of East Turkistan. Areas claimed by China but de facto ruled by India, Taiwan, or Japan are recognized as part of those respective nations. Vietnam is shown with the flag not of South Vietnam (though identical) but of the democratic government in exile. Laos' flag is shown without the moon, the symbol of unity under communism. Burma is shown with the Buddhist flag, used in the Saffron Revolution.

Based largely off of this map and others on Wikipedia. Older JPG version here: Post_communist_East_Asia.jpg.
