Talk:Portal of Evil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I could have sworn i wrote something about how PoE tends to feature sites built by paranoid schizophrenics or other people with emotional, mental, or developmental disabilities or imbalances.
or maybe that was somewhere else.
anyways, its true. youd think after 1 paranoid schizo website, theyd have enough. but they just cant get enough of it.
i think ill name a new disorder, the kthor chet disorder, wherein you become obsessed with the ravings of paranoid schizos, but are somehow unable to detect the common threads amongst them, and continually pretend you have never seen anything like it before and find never ending amusement therein.
Gone.
- The article is poorly written, totally unsourced, needs to be massively wikified, and it's about a website that is obviously not notable. Please delete. Thank you. BoricuaeddieTalk • Contribs • Spread the love! 03:07, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for whitewashing the personal biases of your fellow wikipedoes! Good to know that articles can get deleted due to personal spite on the part of wiki editors, and that a cleanup crew will arrive ASAP to sweep the evidence into the memory hole!Statuebuster 03:33, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Remove. The Portal of Evil is only relevant to a small group of people. It has no real significance. The people who keep putting it back and editing it are site users as evidenced here: Site owner points out Wikipedia edits and here site owner is hostile towards wikipedia
- As the site owner referred to in the above posts I must reiterate: the deletion was nothing to do with me. Surprising as it may seem, I objected to it. Lee M 04:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Hostility towards wikipedia is grounds for deletion now? Is there a loyalty oath or pledge people have to take to keep articles from getting spite-deleted?Statuebuster 03:45, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
The article is poorly written. If anyone wants to take the time to make it not suck, you'll help your cause alot more than the bullshit name calling.John Zim 05:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Jesus. Not to say that Portal of Evil is obscure, but you editor types do understand that an encyclopedia can and should include information on obscure topics too, right? That the usefulness of information has nothing to do with its popularity? If you disagree with that, then why do you even pretend to be an encyclopedia? Just call the place "Pop Culture Triva and Common Knowledge R Us" and be done with it.
Wow maybe this page needs information on the blood types of video game characters to be notable.
None of the people commenting on the deletion have offered any reason this page is relevant outside their own small following. Is the site referenced in the media or somehow important? Why are all the other sites owned by the owner of the Portal Of Evil linked? They seem even less relevant and I suspect the site owner or followers have included them as advertisements.
Reviewing previous discussion and the page's history, most of the calls for deletion are quite suspect. The page has suffered considerable vandalism, presumably from the Portal of Evil's detractors. Several attempts to expound the relevancy of the site have been annonymously removed and honestly, I don't understand the claims that Portal of Evil is using wikipedia, of all places, to advertise. The Portal of Evil is a parent site for several communities, why shouldn't the related articles be linked? Why should the article not state services provided by the Portal of Evil? Additionally, such criticisms have been frequently offered annonymously. If anything, the dang page desperately needs to have annonymous posting locked to prevent the idiots on both side of the debate from doing more damage.John Zim 12:39, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
A slight retraction- the external links are excessive, I'm going to remove all but the direct Portal of Evil link.
