Portola Middle School is a middle school located in Tarzana, California in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. It provides public education for grades six through eight. The mascot is a Spanish conquistador, after Gaspar de PortolĂ , the school's namesake. The middle school is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and is especially noteworthy for hosting the Highly Gifted Magnet program. The magnet head is Tom Rawley. Portola is also a host to an honors program. Portola has numerous advanced programs in drama, choral music, and instrumental music as well.
