[edit] Early life and career

Porscia Yeganeh was born in Abadan, Iran to a Persian family. In the 1990s, she and her family relocated to Canada for a better life and to be closer to their western families.

At an early age of 7, she began dressing her dolls and using her pillow cases to make fashionable garments. Yeganeh eventually extended her fashion interests to include designing her own clothes and tailoring and modifying her garments to better suit her own style. [1] She attended high school at Port Moody Senior Secondary in Port Moody, British Columbia. Throughout her years in school, she studied fashion and textiles and was titled "Ms. Fashion Queen" by her classmates. In 1998, she graduated in Fashion Design and Technology from Kwantlen University College with a collection inspired by combining classic materials in unconventional ways, and putting out products that looked simple, but exquisitely crafted with chic wear.

While studying at Kwantlen, Yeganeh was discovered by the Vancouver Fashion Week producer, Jamal Abdourahman, in 2001. [1] and westca.com, 2008 [2]. Recently, Yeganeh participated in the Young Women in Business Tradeshow in Vancouver, Canada [3]. In May 2, 2008 she lauched her chic glamour cocktail collection at the Chinese Varsity Club at Law Courts Inn Restaurant in downtown Vancouver. Her line is known for its clean, stylish designs, with use of fine materialsata and affordable prices.

[edit] Personal life

Yeganeh says she follows a rigorous exercise regime which sees her rise at 9am twice a week to complete a gruelling, 40-minute exercise session, before embarking on a 10-minute stretch. "It helps to concentrate the mind and I find that I have so much more energy and focus on what I need to work on, both personal and corporate." Her inspirations come from cosmopolitan people around, while always having an optimistic view on different mix wears. That is what sets Yeganeh's unique style apart, by combining good, bad, and multicultural mixes, into simple glamorous pieces.

[edit] Design inspiration

Yeganeh has been quoted as identifying her love of simplicity as the central inspiration of her creations – "Inspiration of simple Beauty" she has said. In an interview at Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2008, Yeganeh has said that her designs "bring...a woman's silhouette out with minimum designs" [4] and knows "how to compliment a woman's body"[4].

Currently with her own label, Yeganeh's view is by turning the conservative vision around with sleek, glamorous ready-to-wear designs, while having her essential minimal-chic pieces that every women should have in her wardrobe. Yeganeh believes that "you don't need to show skin to look sexy"[4] and not following fashion trends is what she attributes her originality to.
