He is Albanian, not of Albanian origins. The Albani family was founded by two brothers that served under the legendary command of Scanderbeg whom history has written around 1000 books about his exploits against the most powerful empire in the world, the Ottoman. The Albani family had many cardinals in Rome prior te the election of the Pope. Their herladic symbol is pretty much the same as that of the Scanderbeg's double-headed eagle, which confirms that that symbol has nothing to do with the byzantine empire but has much more profound roots. These are the popes with Illyrian-albanian origins.

Saint Pius I (140-155) 10th pope in history - born in Aquilea - Dalmatia

Saint Eleutherius Lefteri (175-189) - born in Nikopolis-Preveza Epirus

Saint Gauis (Caius) (283-296) - there's a legend that he was very close to the emperor Diocletian which was Illyrian

John IV (640-642) - from Dalmatia

Clement XI (1700-1721) or with the name John Francesco Albani

Clement XII (1730-1740) He is the one that is Albanian from the mother side - his name is Lorenzo Corsini| his forefathes were soldiers under Scanderbeg's command as well, and the family itself, Corsini is one of the most noble families in Italy. He plaid a key role in the development of western literature in Albania which was still under ottoman empire.
