Pope Demetrius II of Alexandria

Pope Demetrius II of Alexandria (ar: البابا ديميتريوس الثاني )was the Coptic Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark (18621870).

He attended the opening ceremony for the Suez canal on November 17, 1869 during which he met the Ottoman Sultan Abdülâziz. He is commemorated in the Calendar of Saints of the Coptic Church on the 12th day of Babah.

The Seat of the Pope during his papacy remained in the Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Azbakeya in Cairo.
