My brother had a stroke Thursday morning. It was in the pons. He is the first one the doctors have seen that didn't result in death or complete loss of mental function. Everyone please help. Thank you.

Pons strokes don't necessary cause death or loss of mental function. They may, if extensive, cause "locked-in syndrome", for which I suggest you Google if this is the case. Otherwise the cerebrovascular accident page covers most about strokes in general. I hope your brother will be doing better soon. Make sure they give him TED stockings and - if the stroke was not a bleed - prophylaxis with low-molecular weight heparins. JFW | T@lk 07:21, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
