Talk:Pon de Replay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Bajan"? And all this time I thought the title "Pon de Replay" was Jamaican "patois" (or rather I should say Jamaican "creole"). See, "pon" is a word I often hear in dancehall tracks, etc.
- Pon = "put on"? Not so sure about that. Do you have a source for that? And "Bajan is not English"? Of course it is. 'Pon = Upon, and it's an archaic English feature which is preserved in several Caribbean English creoles. Guettarda 16:06, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm more towards it being in Spanish (pon=put de=on replay=replay), not English slang (pon=upon de=the replay=replay). Firewithinfreak (talk) 18:50, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
