Talk:Pollstar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is proposed text to expand the Pollstar stub. I'm the Marketing Manager for Pollstar and thus a primary source. Because this also creates a potential conflict of interest, I'm putting the text here for comments and evaluation.

Founded in 1981, Pollstar has published a weekly magazine that has become a prominent trade publication for the concert industry. Pollstar was an early pioneer in providing concert tour information on-line, launching Pollstar.com in 1994 and providing tour itineraries free to music fans world-wide. The company also hosts a web site for music business professionals at PollstarPro.com. `
Pollstar services are subscription based, distributed worldwide and include the weekly magazine as well as access to an on-line database of international concert tour information and music industry contacts. Pollstar also provides news, box office summaries, tour itineraries and research for industry professionals.
As a member of the Associated Press (AP), Pollstar is frequently cited in news reports covering the music business and concert performances.

I went ahead and applied the "be bold" policy and added to this stub. I'll let the chips fall in regard to any COI issues that anyone wants to raise.

[edit] proposal for deletion removed
I removed the delete proposal for the following reasons:
Pollstar is itself a de facto reliable source, since it is both a news agency, publisher, and a member of Associated Press. Any online search will demonstrate this. On the Wikipedia site alone, there are over 100 articles that cite Pollstar.
A similar company is Billboard, which has an extensive article on Wikipedia. Because they too are a publisher and news source, they face a similar "catch-22." In fact, the only two references cited are from their website. If Pollstar should be deleted, Billboard should be as well.
Of course, I'm recommending neither, as each serves a useful purpose by their inclusion.
