[edit] Approach to Application Lifecycle Tools

Polarion Software's technical approach to ALM tools involves the delivery of proprietary functionality integrated around open source frameworks and systems.[1] The company cites Subversion, Eclipse, and Apache HTTP Server as examples of open source systems used as architectural components of its ALM-related products.

The company's stated conceptual approach involves the deep integration of tools covering major aspects of the into a single "platform" architecture,[2] as opposed to integrations, or simply non-integrated use, of single-aspect tools which characterized the software industry's first approaches to application lifecycle management tools. [3].

[edit] Open Source Involvement

Polarion Software also develops or sponsors development of several open source software tools for users of Subversion and Eclipse. Perhaps the most notable example is Subversive Team Provider for Eclipse which became an Official Eclipse Project in November, 2007. [4]. In addition to software, the company has also open-sourced a training curriculum for Subversion.[5]
