[edit] Evolution

If a Pokémon has nothing in the Evolvesfrom or Evolvesto fields, should we make the cells disappear instead of saying "None"? So for Kangaskhan, we'd see

Number: 115 Type: Normal

I hope that this would simplify it and clear up questions like "Ditto evolves into None?? How do you catch None? I've never ever heard of that Pokémon!"

Or an alternative: Would it be possible, if nothing is in both those fields, to instead display "Does not evolve"? I would think that one short sentence is more graceful than Evolves from: None Evolves into: None --Brandon Dilbeck 17:51, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I've done the second part. I've also put None in italics (so it looks like None instead of None); does that work? —M_C_Y_1008 (talk/contribs) 21:57, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it's nice. --Brandon Dilbeck 22:39, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Inclusion of more parameters

I was curious as to whether to expect to see parameters missing from the old {{Pokeinfobox}} template; i.e. species, height, weight, and ability. I'm assuming that the Japanese name(s) will be written into the body text. If the purpose of this whole merging concept is to reduce cruft and crap from the species articles, then I feel that this template ought to cover those things as simply as possible. As for the species parameter, specifically, I could argue that it's not particularly necessary, but it's a particular description and is rather prominent in the games' Pokédexes. If necessary, another row could easily be added to this template. I would attempt to add these parameters myself but wanted to see others' opinions first. --Brandon Dilbeck 22:39, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Here's an attempt I made in my sandbox: User:Brandon Dilbeck/Sandbox I'm no expert at making tables on Wikipedia and probably messed up something important; I put two tables within one table so that each row was centered. What I think would be ideal is that the table would be one row unless the browser window was too narrow; then it would split into two rows. I don't know how to do that with wikitables. --Brandon Dilbeck 23:01, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
I just directly took what was already in the list entries and made it into a template; don't interpret that it as any sort of statement that I care about that. -Amarkov moo! 23:12, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
